Lovely atmosphere here with the Xmas decorations up. Plenty of people in and nice vibe. Staff were very friendly and helpful and corrected the issues we had quickly and professionally. The food was very good. The reason for the 3 stars is portion size on the meats was smaller than I would expect for the price. Lack of choice of sauces. They didn’t get the order correct, and our initial first choices were off the menu. Also the choice of beers was awful. With so many wonderful independent breweries in the area it was the same old crap. Despite this we had a nice time and enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed our walk in. Sunday night, . Great athmosphere. Food was really good.. Comfort food, hot and tasty., but it was the staff that made it special.. Really friendly and chatty. Would really recommend it..

Amazing tasty food, sauces were bursting with flavour !! Venison pappardelle and pan roast chicken breast, bacon, mushrooms and pearl onions in a creamy mead sauce, with spring onion mash . Good size portions . Will definitely return .

The room itself is very spacious and nicely decorated. The bar area is central and that is where you order your drinks and food. It wasn't very busy and very few people were eating so the service once the orders were placed was very efficient, with all 4 meals arriving at the same time. The ordering process was a bit of a faff as whilst there were 2 till areas you could only use one, and as the night progressed this was surrounded by people standing at the bar, so you had to push through. The fish and chips I ordered were nicely cooked with a decent portions being provided. The sticky toffee pudding was nothing special though, with the sponge being pretty tasteless are requiring a dunk in the toffee sauce.

A well restored hotel bar, with lots of seating and great/interesting internal features. A nice relaxing internal atmosphere. Great range of beers at typical street prices. Another to add to the list for a return visit, staff very friendly and they also welcome dogs.
